Hello, my name is Fred Della Gala and I am a 32 year-old Marine Corps Officer and fitness enthusiast. Incorporating NOW products into my nutritional regimen began in 2007 while I was rehabilitating a back injury. In May 2007, I completed my undergraduate studies at Iowa State University and started training for the next phase of the Marine Corps’ Officer training pipeline, The Basic School aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA. A month into my training program, I injured my lower back while performing a range of compact lifting exercises and was subsequently diagnosed with a herniated disc between the S1-L5 vertebrae.

Upon my arrival at The Basic School, the medical staff placed me in a medical hold status as I was not able to run or perform any type of load bearing training. During this timeframe, I was assigned to a personal trainer who advised me to take the most conservative approach to rehabilitation. The rehabilitation period spanned 13 months, consisting of aerobic and callisthenic exercises. In order to maximize the gains achieved through rehabilitation, I incorporated a range of NOW products into my nutritional program. In July 2008, I was found medically qualified to train and excelled at every physical event that was in connection with The Basic School, which is a six-month period of instruction.


From January 2009 to November 2011, I continued to train aggressively in the training realms of aerobics and calisthenics, avoiding compact lifting exercises in general and an overall bodybuilding regimen. With regard to fitness, I competed in multiple endurance challenges, half-marathons, and one marathon; and achieved scores of 285 or greater on both the annual Physical Fitness Test and Combat Fitness Test. Throughout this period, I continued to use the following NOW products: L-Glutamine, Glucosamine & Chondroitin, Daily Vits, and Omega 3-6-9.

In November 2011, I returned from a deployment in Afghanistan and pursued bodybuilding as a fitness focus. I sought the expertise of Mixed Martial Arts and Personal Trainer, Adam Heard. Adam Heard, the current Kickboxing Instructor at Team Quest, Encinitas, CA, developed both a bodybuilding and nutrition program that was directly aligned to my goals. I am nine months into the program and my current max bench-press is 365 pounds, a 160 pound increase from the base-line I established in November 2011. I only utilize NOW products and currently cycle the following supplements into my diet:

Upon Wake-up
