Hi! My name is Erin Elberson-Lyon and I’m a 38 year-old licensed physical therapist and an avid fitness enthusiast who enjoys cycling, strength training, yoga and kayaking. I have celiac disease and I am a passionate advocate of good nutrition and sound fitness habits to improve and maintain health and quality of life. I’m very active in social media, and I have my own blog Gluten Free Fitness www.glutenfreefitness.com dedicated to healthy gluten free living. There I share stories and tips for living a healthy gluten free life. While I’ve been an active individual the majority of my life, the past few years have been very challenging for me. I am returning to competitive sports (road cycling) after a 6-year layoff that included seven knee surgeries. In total I have had ten knee surgeries in my life on both knees to repair cartilage. I’m fortunate because these surgeries have been cutting-edge procedures that have provided me with a level of post-surgery function that would have been inconceivable as recently as 20 years ago. I’ve been able to maintain a passable level of fitness during recovery, even though I’ve been in a wheelchair and on crutches. After each surgery I’ve been able to regain my previous level of fitness, and I firmly believe it’s because of my focus on fitness and health, and my use of NOW supplements. Even with 8” scars on both knees I’ve still been able to compete in figure shows!
With surgery and rehabilitation behind me I’m ready to get back to doing the things I love! My goals for 2012 are to complete several cycling events for charity including LiveLong for LiveStrong and begin racing in road cycling. I’ve also recently become a member of a local women’s developmental cycling team, The Rose Bandits.
I’m so excited to become a NOW Ambassador! I regularly use NOW products, including Super Enzymes, EGCg, ZMA, 5-HTP, L-Glutamine, Calcium-Magnesium with Vitamin D, and a multi-vitamin. I love NOW because they have a good selection of gluten-free products, and NOW’s excellent product labeling and thorough testing gives me confidence that I’m getting quality products. I’m looking forward to trying new products. I plan to share my experiences with NOW gluten-free products on my blog, as well as on Facebook and Twitter. I’ve just started video blogging as well, so I hope to start posting video reviews to YouTube and my own blog in the near future.
