Bill Moore’s story is truly inspirational and we’re thankful to have him as a NOW Ambassador. Bill became an Ambassador with the hope of inspiring others to take control of their health and their life before they end up in the unenviable position he found himself in a few years ago (see Bill’s testimonial below).
Today Bill is healthy, no longer pre-diabetic, and his blood pressure is back where it belongs at 119/75. He still deals with psoriatic arthritis but these days it’s manageable – the pain and swelling are minimal and his mobility is pretty much normal. Bill told us “I know in my heart that exercise and a healthy diet made my journey back to good health possible. And I was able to improve my nutrition and wellness by supplementation with NOW products.”
Bill feels it’s his responsibility to share his story and his success with others who may be dealing with similar circumstances in their life. Health and nutrition have had such a profound impact on his life that he’s now studying to be a certified personal trainer (graduating in January 2014) and nutritionist (graduating in June 2014), and he plans to make a career of helping others reach their health and fitness goals.
“I’m proof that anyone who has succumbed to health issues due to a poor diet and a lifetime of poor choices can fight back and defy the odds, and I feel it’s my responsibility to share the lessons I learned to help change the world and people’s lives for the better. My journey is no longer just about me, but about helping others take back control of their health and living a healthy, fulfilling life.”
Why I’m a NOW Ambassador
Most of my life I was a fairly healthy individual. I worked out often and enjoyed a successful career in capital equipment sales that eventually led to a great job with a large medical device company. I loved the job, but the long hours and time on the road started taking their toll and I began making poor decisions, primarily concerning my diet. To me this was just part of the life of a successful salesman, but these types of changes in lifestyle exact a toll, especially when one lets circumstance blind them to the big picture. I only wish I had a clue then how terrible the toll would be.
Several years ago I awoke one morning barely able to move. My hands and feet were swollen to three times their normal size and I had tremendous pain pulsating through my arms and legs. I called around to area doctor offices until I found one that could see me that day. After my assessment the doctor told me I needed to see a specialist right away. I was 320 pounds, I had psoriatic arthritis, I was pre-diabetic and my blood pressure was through the roof – 190/120. I was in horrible shape for a man my age, and the doctor told me that if we couldn’t turn things around I’d be in a wheelchair, or worse, in a few years.
I wish I could say I went home invigorated and ready to change my life, but unfortunately it was the exact opposite – I gave up. After two years of giving up and waiting to die I had one of the most humiliating experiences of my life, one that thankfully served as the wake-up call I so desperately needed. I went on a diet and started losing weight. Slowly but surely I started taking short walks and eventually began doing simple body weight squats. Eventually I was at 255 pounds, but I was unable to break through this plateau for a good while. That’s when I went back to something my heart had always called for me to do – throwing around the iron again.
It was during this time that I started looking into nutritional supplementation to help augment my improved diet and support my return to weight lifting, and after a good deal of research into many different brands I kept coming back to NOW. I had taken NOW® products occasionally over the years but never with any regularity. But by incorporating NOW® supplements into my health regimen on a daily basis and by being consistent and fighting for my health every day, I was able to transform my body and shed 120 pounds in two years. I’ve also gained 24 pounds of lean muscle and I check in at 11.4% body fat! I took my life back, and you can too.
